The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) said Monday it is strengthening its partnership with volunteer fire brigades such as the Text Fire Philippines (TFP) and Association of Philippine Volunteer Fire Brigade Inc. (APVFBI) to ensure fire prevention throughout the country.
Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse M. Robredo said he is set to talk with TFP head Gerry Chua and APVFBI led by businessman Francisco Guevarra so that the DILG-Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) can have good working relationship with them in firefighting capabilities.
Robredo said in Naga City alone, there is a strong partnership with volunteer fire brigades.
Text Fire Philippines Foundation Inc. is a non-profit organization that helps disseminate fire alerts, alarms, and information through an SMS Dispatcher Server.
It has chapters in Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Cotabato, Dagupan, Davao, Iloilo, Legaspi, Naga, Sorsogon, Tabaco, Tacloban and Tarlac.
APVFBI, headed by businessman Francisco Guevarra, is the largest fire and rescue service in the Philippines.
It is composed of more than 37 member brigades nationwide - 20 in Metro Manila, the rest in the provinces of Albay, Bacolod, Bulacan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Dagupan, Davao, Iligan, Isabela, Leyte, Masbate, Naga, Pampanga and Samar. - pna
