Kris Aquino will find true happiness, but not where she’s looking.
This is not a stargazer’s prediction; it is the counsel of one of the most trusted spiritual advisers of the high-profile and controversial TV celebrity.
Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas pulled off a surprise toward the end of his homily yesterday during a Mass commemorating the first death anniversary of President Corazon C. Aquino, the incumbent President’s and Kris’ mom, who is the family’s true superstar.
Bishop Soc said, addressing Kris: “
Your beauty and talents are not yours; they are God’s. Remember, all of these things shall pass. You will find your real happiness, as your mother did, not by being in the limelight, but being the spotlight lighting the face of Jesus.â€
Not something that members of the congregation at the La Salle Green Hills gymnasium expected to hear, the words caused a perceptible stir.
Villegas was a key figure during the 1986 Edsa People Power Revolution, alongside then Manila Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin.
The Lingayen-Dagupan prelate has since been known for close ties to the Aquinos, especially Cory.
