DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said on Thursday that Dabawenyos will finally know about her plans in the 2013 elections as the filing of certificate of candidacy (COC) for the 2013 mid-term elections ends at 5 p.m. Friday.
As of 3 p.m. Thursday, Duterte-Carpio said she has yet to finalize her decision.
"Everything is still up in the air. We will see tomorrow (October 5)," she told Sun.Star Davao in a text message.
Being the highest elected official in Davao City, Duterte-Carpio is the leader of Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod, the newly accredited local political party, along with her father.
The mayor's father, Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and her older brother Association of Barangay Captain (ABC) president Paolo Duterte have remained indecisive on what position they will be seeking.
But during Hugpong's general assembly on September 28 at SMX Convention Center at SM Lanang Prenier, the party endorsed Paolo as its bet for the vice mayoralty race, but left the mayoralty post and first district congress seat open as it is still waiting for the decision of Mayor Sara and Vice Mayor Rodrigo.
Duterte-Carpio said she hasn't talked to her party mates regarding their plans.
"Wala ko kahibalo sa ilahang sked, ako, wala ko sked (I do not know about their schedule. I do not have my own schedule)," Duterte-Carpio said when asked if she will file her COC along with her party mates.
During the Hugpong convention, the vice mayor said they will announce their official and final line up on the last day of the submission of COC.
The elder Duterte said he really has no idea about his daughter's plans. The mayor was in bed rest during the party's convention due to her delicate pregnancy.
"She has the choice, naa gyud, klarohon lang sa gyud ni namo sa among mga sarili (She really has, we will just make this decision clear among ourselves)," the vice mayor earlier said.
