8 Negros cops receive medals for anti-drug campaign

BACOLOD CITY, Aug. 7 -- Eight policemen in Negros Island Region (NIR) were awarded the Philippine National Police (PNP) Medalya ng Kagalingan (Medal of Merit) Monday for their valuable contribution to the war against drugs.

The police commissioned officer (PCO)-awardees included Superintendents Antonietto Cañete, Roberto Lingbawan and Alvin Futalan;  and Chief Inspector Mark Anthony Darroca.

Senior Police Officer 1 Marlou Ragay, Police Officers 2 Patrick Garcia, Rey Anthony Bañga, and Angelo Pacardo were the police non-commissioned officer (PNCO)-awardees.

The awarding rites, held at the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office headquarters in Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr., was led by Chief Superintendent Leonardo Cesneros, deputy regional director for administration of Police Regional Office (PRO)-18, with lawyer Roselyn Borja, acting director of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) -18.

Both officials awarded the medals to the eight awardees.
