The Benguet Police Provincial Office (BPPO) Thursday uprooted 3,000 full grown marijuana plants with approximate value of P600,000 in two plantations in Kapangan, Benguet, according to police provincial director Sr. Supt. Benjamin Losad.
This was the latest marijuana plantation raid conducted in the province.
The resurgence of marijuana production in the area surprised many local officials as there was a lull in the illegal trade when Kapangan was only known for the last decade to be outstanding in their production of anthurium and silk.
According to Losad, the police conducted a dialogue with the people in the community after the raid in order that they would help identify the possible cultivators and dissuade them in their illegal work.
He added that the campaign against drug addiction and production of illegal drugs is now one of the priority concerns of their office. (PNA)
