Iloilo City Hall has been literally taken over by young officials who are now at the helm of governance here, at least for a week.

The boy and girl city officials, led by girl city mayor Nizza Ann Regalado of Ateneo de Iloilo, were chosen by the Rotary Club of Iloilo City for their 38th Boys and Girls Week celebration.

“This kind of undertaking is a very good training ground for our youth so that they will know how it is to be in public service, know first-hand the problems of our society and how to best address them,” Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog said.

Each head of City hall departments and offices has a counterpart boy or girl official that they will mentor about their work and services.

The young leaders were also asked to join official functions and meetings so they will know the business of working in the government.

The second highest girl official is Vicah Villanueva, of the Philippine Science High School-Western Visayas, as city vice mayor.

The city councilors are David Lao of Central Philippine University; Isabelle Zerrudo of West Visayas State University; Kevinn Friedrich Chan of Iloilo Scholastic Academy; Michael Pedronio of Filipino-American School Town; Caryl Nonato of SPED-Integrated School for Exceptional Children; Blessed Plondaya of St. Joseph School Iloilo; Julie Suganob of Colegio de San Jose; Patrick Nafarrete of PAREF-Westbridge School; Kelly Binder of University of San Agustin; Zulein Gardose of Central Philippine University; Rachylle Querimit of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University; and Maria Antonette Pasquin of University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo.

Girl president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC-Iloilo City) is Christine Alvarez of Filipino-American School Town, while girl president of Sangguniang Kabataan Federation (SK-Iloilo City) is Merry Cris Ferrer of Iloilo City National High School.

Valen Jambaro of Western Visayas College of Science and Technology is girl city administrator.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
