23 Negros Occidental villages get P7.4M for projects

BACOLOD CITY -- Twenty-three barangays in Negros Occidental received a total of PHP7.4 million worth of financial assistance from the provincial government in series of releases this week.

As of Friday, three barangays of Manapla town were given a total of PHP1.5 million for the renovation of their respective barangay halls. Recipients were Barangay II-Poblacion, Barangay II-A, and Barangay San Pablo. Some PHP5.9 million in financial assistance was also distributed for the implementation of various projects in 20 more barangays. 

Ten of the recipient-barangays in Silay City -- Barangays 1,  2,  3, 5;  Guinhalaran, Balaring, Mambulac, E. Lopez, Patag, and Bagtic --  received a total of PHP2.8 million in assistance. The fund will be used for the rehabilitation of canals and drainage systems, repair of footwalks, rip-rap project, purchase of multi-purpose vehicles, and clean and green projects.

A total of PHP2.05 million were released to eight barangays of Talisay City,  including  Barangays Zone 1, Zone 5, Zone 7, Zone 14, Zone 14-A,  Zone 15,  Concepcion, and Matab-ang. Their projects include construction of communal toilets, rehabilitation of drainage systems, de-clogging of canals, rip rapping of the riverbank, and purchase of multi-purpose vehicle.

Other recipients were Barangay Refugio in Calatrava with PHP500,000 for an electrification project and Barangay Maquiling in Sagay City with P600,000 for  a road concreting project.

Last July 26, the provincial government also released PHP2.725 million worth of assistance to 11 villages of Isabela town. The recipients were Barangay 2 Poblacion, Barangay 7 Poblacion, Barangay 8, Amin, Banogbanog, Cansalongon, Cabcab, Lima-lima, Maytubig, Riverside and Sebucauan.

Among the projects were the rehabilitation and improvement of water supply systems, improvement of barangay hall, and flood control projects.

Before this, the provincial government also released checks totaling PHP11.15 million to officials and representatives of 11 barangays in various local government units for their projects.  (PNA)
