2 fetuses found an hour apart in Manila

MANILA, Philippines--Two male fetuses were found outside a videoke bar and near an underpass at least an hour apart Sunday morning in Manila.

The fetuses were each placed inside an ice cream bucket with the umbilical cords still attached and the placenta intact.

PO1 Gerry Amores of the Manila Police District (MPD) homicide section said that the first fetus, some five to six months premature, was discovered at around 8:30 a.m. Sunday in front of the Lerma Underpass at the corner of Lerma and R. Papa Streets, Barangay (Village) 464 in Sampaloc.

Amores said that the fetus was found by 464 village watchman Enrique Gatdula, who noticed the plastic bag containing the blue half gallon ice cream bucket with the dead infant inside.

The fetus was brought to the Universal Funeral Homes for safekeeping.

The second fetus -- also five to six months premature -- was left in front of the Atmosphere videoke bar along Taft Avenue in Malate.

Amores said the fetus was discovered at around 9:45 a.m. by Firebird security agency guard Ramil Batotoc detailed at the Enrica Building beside the bar and a certain Mario Hisma. The two noticed a transparent plastic bag marked "SALE" left near the bar and decided to inspect the package.

The case investigator said the two saw the fetus placed inside a red plastic ice cream bucket covered with a red plastic bag.

Batotoc and Hisma turned over the fetus to the MPD homicide section and gave their statements about the discovery.(inquirer.net)
