ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Two notorious drug personalities were killed in a law enforcement operation in the province of Sulu, a top military official said Friday.
Lt. Gen. Carlito Galvez Jr., Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief, identified the slain drug personalities as Alsidi Anji and Benjie Dumdaydi.
Authorities refer to the drug personalities as either pushers or users.
Galvez said Anji and Dumdaydi were killed when they resisted arrest by the joint Marine troops and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives in a law enforcement operation at around 1:50 a.m. Wednesday in Barangay Lambago, Luuk, Sulu.
He said they were believed to be members of a notorious drug group led by a certain Jinar, who was not around when the lawmen carried out the law enforcement operation.
Galvez said the arresting team seized from the suspects’ possessions a caliber .30 M1 Garand rifle with ammunition, suspected shabu and illegal drug paraphernalia.
He said the suspects’ remains were turned over to their relatives in Barangay Bulangsih, Panamao, by Barangay Councilor Arafi Hajiron of Tubig Putih, Luuk.
He said they will continue to assist other law enforcement agencies like PDEA in curbing illegal drug activities in the province of Sulu. (PNA)
