1st MINDANAO FOURTH ESTATE SUMMIT
The media for change and federalism will meet in Davao City
DAVAO CITY – The Mindanaoan journos will have its grand media convention on October 28, 2017 at SMX Convention Center in Lanang, Davao City for its first ever Mindanao-wide press community summit.
The media event is organized by the Mindanao Federation of the Fourth Estate, Inc. (MFFEI) which will serve as platform for the kick-off of the Media para sa Pagbabago (Media for Change) in Mindanao.
The highlight of this forthcoming media event is the keynote address of President Rodrigo R. Duterte on the vital role of news media today in reporting factual and unadulterated news and its important part in the Administration’s campaign for change.
The discussion during this maiden gathering for media practitioners in Mindanao will also focus on the ongoing crackdown of President Duterte against drugs, criminality and corruption and his planned political structural reform.
“The role being played by the members of the fourth estate community is vital at this point in our history since the media people serve as links between our policymakers and the citizenry. President Duterte is hell-bent to get his job done at the end of the day,†said Jess Pauliño, President of the MFFEI.
The expected participants of this media event are the press journalists from both the fields of broadcasting and print from different provinces of Mindanao including partners from the local government units and journalism students (LGUs). Representatives from Malacañang are also invited especially the key officials from the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) headed by Secretary Martin Andanar.
Jun Enriquez of Civil Society Organizations Forum for Peace from Iligan City also said, “This media summit is a one of a kind and will be the first ever in Mindanao to bring all media people at one place to meet the President. It will also help put a balance in the equilibrium since most of the loud voices in the industry are adversarial to PDU30.â€
“It will also serve as the community-based presidential communications machine aiding the Presidential Communications Office of Malacanang,†said Jun Datwin of Caraga
