Baliuag, Bulacan - A 13-year-old girl was gang-raped and later stabbed to death allegedly by three suspected “rugby†boys in an old cemetery in Barangay Sto. Cristo, this town, police said yesterday.
Police said the body of Mary Rose Quiarro, 13, a sophomore at the Mariano Ponce High School and resident of Barangay Concepcion, here, was found stripped to the skin on top of a tomb in the cemetery on Thursday night.
Superintendent Christopher Montillano, the town police chief, said investigators arrested a suspect whom he identified as Nuy P. Calderon, 25, said to be among a group of people sniffing solvent called rugby.
Senior Police Officer 2 Atoy Cruz, case investigator, theorized that Quiarro was on her way home from school when the three men snatched at knifepoint, forcibly dragged her onto a tricycle and drove her to the cemetery where she was violated.
Police said Quiarro apparently resisted, prompting her abusers to stab her seven times, killing her on the spot. (Freddie Velez, Tempo)
