A Filipino maid who broke the arm of a baby boy while yanking him out of a car-seat has been jailed for 10 weeks, news reports said on Saturday. Karen Jimenez Francisco, 27, admitted to causing grievous harm to the 3-month-old infant at his Singapore home on August 29 last year.
Assistant Public Prosecutor Christine Liu told a district court judge on Friday that Francisco was busy with her work when the child started crying in the carrier, which was attached to a stroller, The Straits Times said.
Annoyed, she jerked him out of the carrier without realizing his right arm was trapped. She put the boy back in before lifting him out again.
When carrying him around did not stop the baby's crying, she pinched him on his lower back, the report said.
