source: Bohol Sunday PostThe Birhen sa Barangay Parish, The Knights of Columbus Council 8362 and a group of businessmen at Cogon District, Tagbilaran City will stage a battle-of-the-bands gig to search for new talents.
The contest is open to all amateur bands of Bohol.
According to the parish priest, Fr. John Martin Legitimas, "this is the first and unique [contest] because it endeavors to train young amateur bands to be entertainer of all ages".
The contest piece will be the hit songs of the 1950s and the new and latest hits of the new generations hence bands will be judged on their versatility to play the sounds for all audiences" Fr. Legitimas added.
The Grand Battle Royal of five weekly champions will culminate on October 12, during the K of C Night after a series of elimination rounds that to be held during the five Saturdays of September- -that is on 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th next month, wherein five bands will vie for the weekly championship.
Big prizes are at stake during the Grand Battle Royal and a chance to have a contract with Cogon District's entertainment centers.
Registration forms and contest piece CDs can be availed from George Paul Cabalit at the Cabalit Law Office at Belderol St., Tagbilaran City and Lynde Puti-an at Batingal Accounting Office fronting the UB Gym, at the ground floor of Lamberts Bldg., Ma. Clara St..
Slots for the elimination is limited.
The contestants will be given enough time to master the contest pieces in the CD which will be assigned to the contenders by raffle during the elimination round and the grand finals.
