Union blasts AT&T for outsourcing to the Philippines, Mexico
About 21,000 workers of AT&T in the United States have taken the next step toward a strike due to the company's outsourcing of jobs. AT&T workers belonging to the Communication Workers of America (CWA) voted 93% in favor of a strike against the telecommunications company. The union blasted the company's record of sending call-center jobs to other countries, such as the Philippines and Mexico. Aside from outsourcing, AT&T also cut more than 8,000 call-center jobs, CWA said. The contract between AT&T and CWA expires 11 February. It affects approximately 21,000 employees.
