Two US senators file anti-outsourcing bills
US senators Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow have filed bills that seek to reduce the outsourcing of American jobs and force firms to disclose when they send jobs overseas. Peters and Stabenow, both democrats, expressed hope that the legislation will gain traction in the Republican-led Congress partly because of President Donald Trump's anti-outsourcing stance. The bill filed by Peters requires listed firms to disclose their outsourcing activities with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Stabenow's bill also requires companies to report the total number of employees and the percentage change in employment numbers for each state and country in which they operate.
