Yes VRL, WU is very expensive. The pera padala sa mga pawnshops is also very expensive. For 1,000 pesos, they get 100 pesos as sending charge. Kwarta sa landong for the pera-padala peddlers. If within the Philippines, the best way to send money to someone is ATM to ATM. For Metrobank and BDO, it's only 50 pesos regardless of the amount sent.

And they are both "money in minutes." And diprensya lang sa duha, ang Moneygram dili mohatag sa money in $ maski aduna pa silay option na peso/dollar. WU does all the time. I used both every month nga pada... and also BPI Express Remittance out of California kung bank-to-bank.

Thanks for the input guys. Now I will be wary in sending via Western Union.

Usually tho, I send via: New York Bay Remittances.

The cost to send back to the Philippines (to a personal bank account) is $10; and does not matter how much you send. You can send $1,000 back, still they will charge only $10. Or you can send $100 back, and still they will only charge $10.

Diri sa Macau may mga remittance office nga nag offer ug lain laing services. Door to door, bank to bank ot thru their atm which your laved ones in Philippines can withdraw right after you remit the money. It's very convenient. And the charges is very resonable USD 2.5. :)
