The Caloocan City Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) has reported a total of 1,255 additional establishments that opened for business for the third quarter.
Mayor Enrico Echiverri said the increase in investments represents a 7.8 percent growth in the city’s economic activity, bringing the total number of businesses to 16,104 from 14,849 previously registered establishments by the BPLO.
The BPLO said the highest increase was in the general merchandise category, with 552 newly registered firms bringing the total to 7,378 businesses.
Businesses belonging to general contractor and services posted 419 new registrations for a total of 4,589 firms, the mayor said.
There were 74 new eateries, bringing the total of food establishments to 535.
Real estate firms recorded a 6.2 percent growth; amusement firms, 4.92 percent; manufacturing, 3.78 percent; and import-export firms, 2.65 percent increase.
Miscellaneous and other businesses posted a 10.9 percent increase.
