Several centuries down the line, and only a lucky few have the means and luck to follow the ancient sage’s words.

Included in that exclusive set of people actually bounding up every morning, raring and excited to “get to work” are pretty pair Jen Gerodias-Diaz, 35, and Gen Enriquez-Gerodias, 39, the brains and beauties behind Snoe beauty products.

Here’s what they do on a regular work day: read fashion magazines, beauty books, scour the Internet, test beauty products, and determine what formulations and ingredients work best.

Gerodias, ballerina-thin with a resemblance to Kim Kardashian, who’s in charge of marketing and streamlining operations, says: “We derive pleasure when we discover products that work, and we share it with friends and family—from cheap to middle-of-the-road to expensive, it doesn’t matter—we love trying out products.”

Diaz, her sister-in-law, just as slender, fairer, and endowed with the moxie of a shrewd businesswoman, adds: “Our forte is conceptualizing—” from a never-before-seen product to its formulation to its name, she says this is the most fun part of their job. “For example, our lip balm not only moisturizes your lips, it protects your lips from the sun, it plumps the lips, and also freshens your breath. We put something in there that’s an ingredient of mouthwash. And we came up with a name that will match the product; we called it Beso Balm.”
