Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co. (Metrobank), the country’s second biggest bank in asset size, announced the election of Arthur Ty, former president and CEO, as the new chairman.
Replacing him as president is Fabian S. Dee, a seasoned banker and former senior executive vice president and head of the national branch bank¬ing sector of Metrobank and chairman of Metrobank Card Corp.
Arthur Ty has been Metrobank president since 2006. Under his leadership, Ty helped steer the bank to become one of the best and strongest in the country, ending his term with a breakthrough performance, reporting the highest-ever recorded consolidated net profit in 2011.
Ty replaces his father, the founder of Metrobank, George S.K. Ty.
The position of vice chairman will remain with Francis Sebastian, who is also chair of the Metrobank Card Corp.
