MARIBOJOC, Bohol – Vice-Mayor Fructuso Redulla of this town bluntly denied the accusation lodged by his political detractors of alleged irregularities in the procurement of materials for housing projects of the earthquake victims.

Vice-Mayor Redulla, who did not name the accusers, told a radio interview yesterday that there’s no truth to the allegation, adding that the town leadership is following bidding procedures as provided for by the law.

Redulla said that they follow rules and even the recommendation of the Commission on Audit (COA) on “negotiated purchase” at “uniform prices.”

The 22 barangays of the town was divided by four bidders equally to supply the G. I. sheets, cement nails, plywood and other materials, he explained. The supplier will be the one to deliver the materials to the beneficiary, he said.

Redulla lamented that instead of helping each other achieve the housing projects aimed at improving the earthquake victims’ lives, some groups prefer to play dirty politics.

He said Mayor Evasco’s administration will not be distracted by the demolition job aimed at him and other officials but he’s focused on uplifting the lot of his people.

Tis town is one of the recipients of housing funding to the tune of PhP33.4 million from National Housing Authority (NHA) headed by Vice-President Jojo Binay, who personally turned it over to Mayor Evasco last year right after the tremor.

Based on NHA’s guidelines, a beneficiary is entitled a total of PhP10,000 worth of materials.

He said that more than 3,340 households need to be raised or build another due to the earthquake. The town still hosts tent city or evacuation centers as temporary shelters in sitio Tiwi and Maribojoc Central Elem School, he said. (RVO)
