Three members of a family suffered burns in their body when out of the blue a lightning hit them.

The victims were identified as Dionisio Dohinoc, 55, son Mark and daughter Luzviminda of barangay Candavid, Maribojoc. They were sitting on the porch of their house when the lightning bolt hit them.

The incident occurred at about 4 p.m. after a downpour. The victims heard first a loud explosion then saw electric bolts coming towards them. The victims were brought to the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial hospital in the city and were treated with minor burns.

Incidents of lightning strikes injuring humans and damaging properties have been reported occurring frequently in the past two months.

Last week, a three-year old boy was killed instantly while his father was seriously injured when a lightning bolt hit them while walking home.

The boy identified as Winston Rosales was cuddled by his father Fernando, 29, when the lightning bolt struck them in barangay Tuburan, Ubay Wednesday afternoon.

The boy was thrown meters away while the father fell to the ground.

Both were brought to the Emilio del Valle Memorial hospital in the same town but the boy was pronounced dead by doctors while the father was referred for further medical attention to the city after a first aide for serious burns were applied.

Authorities from the weather bureau warn the public to be extra careful during this rainy season where thunderstorm usually occurs. Lightning bolts are produced when heavy clouds collide or atmospheric pressure reaches extreme level.

Stay away from open spaces, trees and poles when lightning starts to appear in the skies.
