Call it over-protection, one Eduardo Mabuhay stabbed to death, a male drinking buddy of her 14-year-old daughter Wednesday night last week right in front of Sta. Cruz parish church here.
The suspect voluntarily surrendered to the local police station.
The victim, 16-year-old Mark Angelo Briones, was strolling along the vicinity of the church with a friend named Michael Morgia, heading towards their boarding house around 7:00 p.m. when the suspect chanced upon them.
In an interview on Friday Morning, Mabuhay said he was provoked with the thought that the Briones and Morgia had invited his 14-year-old daughter to their boarding house on Sunday night last week.
It was on that night that his daughter has not gone home and showed signs that she was under the influence of liquor when she returned in the morning the next day.
From then on, Mabuhay had harbored grudge on the victim and his friend.
That's why when he chanced upon the teenagers, Mabunay chased them until he got hold of Briones and stabbed him in the different parts of his body using an impoverished hunting knife.
After the incident, the suspect went to the mayor's residence to voluntarily surrender. But since the town executive was out-of-town, Mabunay opted to be in the custody of the local police at the town's PNP station.
He also turned over the weapon to the police officers on duty.
Responding police officers, SPO1 Teodoro Arocha and PO1 Edilberto Calipes brought the victim to the Ramiro Community Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending doctor.
In a spot report dated September 14, 2007 PNP Acting Chief of Police Jose Vendencia Arocha narrated the details of the bloody incident by the centuries-old church to Police Sr. Supt. Edgardo Ingking, Bohol PNP director.
