Is it better to be single or married
« on: May 19, 2010, 02:10:49 PM »
The Great Debate: Is it better to be single or married?

"It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need somebody to clean up after them!"
(Lynette, 9)

"It gives me a headache to think about that stuff. I'm just a kid. I don't need that kind of trouble."
(Kenny, 7)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

for me, i chose to get married. i don't need to worry about facing the future alone coz i have my family. being married also sets a clear direction of my life. i don't care kung kayud kalabaw ko kay sure man ko nga naay kapadungan ahong mga sakripisyo.

I think like most things, its a lifestyle choice. I got married at 20 and 7 years later, still happy to see my husband...wanted to murder him a few times but happy nonetheless. ;D ;D

My closest friend does not have a restful bone in her body. Falls in and out of love at the drop of a hat. hmmm...maybe marriage will suit her , maybe not.

Then I have a good high school friend who got married 4 years ago, have 2 kids and a husband who cheats on her with gay dudes and chicks alike and her standard of living has gone down. She lets on that she's miserable and sometimes, I wished she didn't marry the guy just because she got pregnant. Maybe she would've been happier as a single mom.

Depende jud bitaw sa tawo. I have married friends who are unhappy, but I have bachelor friends who are unhappy, too.

H. L. Mencken must have thought much on this subject, as the following quote would show:

"Bachelors know more about women than married men; if they didn't they'd be married too."

Bwahaha! ;D

married life will never be successful if the husband and wife will not meet in the center. as the saying says, it takes two to tango. so, it's a joint effort to make the married life lasts.

I have a friend who is 4 years my senior, he is about 28 now (turning 29) and recently graduated medical school and in his 2nd year of Orthopaedic Surgery Residency (its a 5 year program). Since his 2nd year of medical school, he was dating another medical student, and have been with her since then. What a beautiful couple, in my opinion. They studied together, championed each other and cheered each other on while they were but students in medicine proper. They waited, which was a choice that they made, to finish their respective programs, and also stay true to each other.  Now, that they are married (recently). He is finishing his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency, and should finish within 3 years, while his wife (also a good friend of mine) is currently in her 2nd year of Pediatrics Residency. They are very good people, i admire their principles, they both, no doubt, are a great couple. Two Physicians...and there is nothing that they want that they will never be able to have. But knowing John, and his humble nature, he will teach his children the right way. He is very active in Church Life...

It shows you, it never is wrong to wait, and that....Trusting in the Lord always pays off.

Both of them are very active in the Church Life, and are very good decent people.

Tinuud jud ang saying,...GOD blesses a happy soul...always....

~

They both inspire me.

hmmmm...just a thought, I think it would be better to stay single until you find the other half of your soul . Some people may not have an other half or are not destined to have one or just don't know what to do when the do find one.

:)

It is nice to see that you also believe in halves. I am a firm believer in the 'half'. For me, i do believe that we all have our other halves in the world. Some are very fortunate to find them and be with them, some, marry and live their lives without ever meeting their other half.

Amazing. Lagi.

married life is not always a bed roses. but it's always worth fighting for. to remain single is a choice. but sooner or later, i'm sure, you'll find your better half, you-in-me. i hope, you won't let that person go.

My happiness is not dependent on any person, I perfected that art long time ago. I married late, was happy being single and unattached, then I married for 10 years...now I wish I did not...So it really depends on your lifestyle or preferences.

There must be some good came up with that 10 years. Not a total loss. You could not say you wish you did not, because you come to know some members of the family and got very close  with them.Am I right or am I wrong?

i agree, there's no perfect marriage. but every couple can make it work by being there with each other. differences can be settled as long as both parties are open-minded and ready to accept one's fault.
