Why Do Beautiful Women Dig Imperfect Guys?

Apr 15th 2009
By Ann Kelly

Sure, lots of women may drool over pics of a shirtless Matthew McConaughey jogging on the beach. But that doesn't necessarily mean that's what they want to come home to. In fact, sometimes the quirkier, the better. Even the beautiful Jennifer Love Hewitt has come out to profess her love for geeks and funny guys.

We asked some real women to share why they prefer short, chubby or nerdy guys.

Lauren, 23, chubby chaser: "I'm not overweight, but am also not super-toned and tiny. If I were with this muscular, buff guy, I would feel self-conscious. I'm just more comfortable cuddling up with someone a little meatier. A confident guy with a few extra pounds is way more attractive than someone that is constantly concerned about his appearance."

Angela, 30, geek-lover: "My last boyfriend actually worked for The Geek Squad. I once dated a man that was really into comic books. He would go to the conventions and stand in line for hours to get autographs and stuff. It would be weird if he insisted I called him Clark Kent in bed. But it wasn't like that, it was just a hobby he was really into."

Tamra, 31, into short guys: "All my former boyfriends have been between 5"4 and 5"6. I'm only 5"1, so anyone taller than 5"7 can create problems. It hurts to look up to them when talking and it makes sex harder."

Sarah, 29, nerd fetishist: "Intelligence is really important and I'd rather date a guy that's obsessed with computers and books than a football fanatic. I mean, I wouldn't want to date a guy was glued to his computer 24-7. But I don't mind if he's a little socially awkward. I find the life-of-the-party type really annoying, so a guy that prefers quietly sitting back is perfect. "

Stephanie, 27, chubby chaser: "I like guys that have a little bit of a belly. There's just something cute about a small gut. A lot of the time chubby and funny go hand in hand. When a guy isn't classically hot and built like a Greek god, he has to develop his personality more. In the long run, I think it makes them better people."

Lisa, 28, into short guys: "Short to medium height is my thing. I like a more compact build, short and a little muscular, like Tom Cruise (not his crazy personality though!). I don't think height and self-esteem go hand in hand. I've met lots of secure short guys and none of them have had a Napoleon complex."
