My bestfriend Ida with her two boys, Neil and Dave in one of the beaches in Maui, Hawaii.
Ida with her so loving husband, Romano. They call each other Nanay and Tatay.
Her name is Ida. She is my bestfriend for 17 years now. I was new to the bank where I used to work, assigned at the Head Office - Accounting Department. I started as a bookkeeper and at the same time encoder. Being the newbie, I was toured around by my boss all over the building. I felt welcomed but I still feel awkward being a fresh college graduate and was starting to live a dream of working in a bank. At lunchbreak that day, I didn't know where to eat so I was thinking of skipping lunch.
I was alone in the office then the door opened and here this very nice lady who smiled at me. She asked me, you are the newly hired bookkeeper, right? Shyly I said yes. (Yes, unbelievably I was so shy then!
) Then she said, "come with me in my office. Let's have lunch. I have more than enough for both of us!" I learned later she was also at the Head Office but under the Audit Department. She was so warm I couldn't say no to her invitation. That was the start of our friendship. I became an extension to her family as much as she is to mine. She was the only friend I ever have that we never had a single disagreement all these years - simbako lang!
Some years back during the baptism of their first born boy Neil where I was the godmother, her father, Dr. Lamberto Boloron talked to us and said to take care of your friendship because we were both lucky to have each other as friends. We will be friends through thick and thin! I thank the Lord for blessing me a dear friend in Ida!
