Launching of Loon STARS Project and Opening of Recycle Market

Dynamic Loon  Mayor Lloyd Peter M. Lopez, MD (right, top photo), stressed on the livelihood opportunities and economic benefits that Loon constituents will receive from the Skills Training Advocating Reliance and Self-Employment (STARS) Project of the provincial government during its launching on February 5, 2010 at the Loon Sports and Cultural Center. The activity was attended by STARS Project Coordinator Norris Oculam and other provincial guests, municipal officials, barangay captains, Loonanon job seekers and out-of-school youths. Coordinated by TESDA-Bohol and the Bohol Employment Provincial Office (BEPO). Loon’s STARS will commence on February 15, 2010 with four initial courses: Small Engine Repair, Household Services, TV/Radio Repair and Hair Styling. Other courses to be scheduled in the future include Tour Guiding, Cellphone Repair, Reflexology, Driving, Welding and Electricity.

In middle photo, Mayor Lopez expounds the importance of the protection and preservation of the environment through the proper disposal of garbage and wastes during the opening of the Recycle Market held in front of the Loon Public Market on February 7, 2010. A joint project of the LGU and the Sangguniang Kabataan Municipal Federation (SKMF) headed by Loon SKMF president Ivaraxel Ericsson in support of the ESWM Program of the municipality, the Recycle Market will buy recycled empty bottles, cans, plastics, papers, cardboards, and other recyclable items; as well as used batteries of motorcycles, trucks, cellphones, radios and flashlights. Romblon mat bags, or bayongs in the local dialect, were also distributed to the first 100 hundred people who bought foodstuffs inside the public market to encourage Loonanons to use environment-friendly shopping bags or containers. In bottom photo is SK National Federation President Jane Censoria Cajes who was specially invited to grace the occasion.  The national youth leader from Trinidad town, who wowed the audience with her beauty and intelligence, lauded the project of the LGU and promised to return to triplicate the distribution of the bayongs to Loon public market shoppers.  (ADAM L. SALIGUMBA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
