Zamboanga Peninsula SME Caravan kicks off

ZAMBOANGA CITY, July 2 (PNA) -– The Zamboanga Peninsula Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Caravan kicked-off Thursday in this city.

Eng’r. Rolando Acuña, DTI provincial director, said the kick-off activities were held at the gymnasium of Barangay Ayala, 16.5 kilometers west of City Hall.

Acuña said a lecture on current design trends and importance of product development was held Thursday morning, which is the first day of the caravan, and was followed by the presentation of the programs of the SME Core Agencies.

Acuña said the presentation of the programs was simultaneously conducted with the product development sessions, which was handled by professional product development consultants.

He said that the one-on-one consultations of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with SME Core Agencies and product development sessions resumed in the afternoon.

He said the second day--Friday--of the Zamboanga City Leg of the ZAMPEN SME Caravan will feature an entrepreneurship seminar and seminar on pricing and costing.

He said the SME Core one-on-one consultations and product development sessions will continue in the corner of the venue while the seminars are on-going.

Thereafter, the Caravan will head to Liloy, Zamboanga Del Norte; then to Molave, Zamboanga Del Sur; and, finally, to Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay where similar services will be offered to the MSMEs.

This year’s SME Caravan will be capped by a two-day Regional SME Conference from July 30 to 31 in this city.

Conducted yearly as a regular project of the ZAMPEN SME Core Group, the Caravan brings government services closer to the grassroots as was intended since its inception in 2003.

However, Acuña said this year the caravan will take a step closer to the grassroots unlike the previous caravans where the event is held in the provincial and city centers.

Acuña said it is hoped that the services the caravan bring will reach more MSMEs that were unserved by the previous caravans by veering away from city centers and conducting it in the region’s emerging growth centers.

The ZAMPEN SME Caravan aims to serve as the central venue for the provision of technical and consultancy services to MSMEs by member agencies of the ZAMPEN SME Core Group.

It also aims to serve as a channel for the dissemination of information related to new policies, guidelines, opportunities and other information relevant to the MSME sector. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
