University of Antique open to revival of agri school in San Remigio townSAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique, April 4 (PNA) -– The
University of Antique (UA) is open to reviving the Antique National Agricultural School (ANAS) that was closed down several years ago in
San Remigio town.
In an interview Tuesday, UA President Victor Navarra said they would open the agricultural school starting June 2017 if there are enough enrollees.
He said that they have a building in Tubudan village that could serve students taking Bachelor of Science (BS) in Agriculture major in Animal Science or BS in Crop Science.
For her part, Gov. Rhodora J. Cadiao urged students to enroll in these courses, saying the provincial government is ready to provide scholarships to them.
Cadiao said the provincial government still has a scholarship fund of PHP5 – 7 million, out of PHP15 million, that can be used by students pursuing agricultural studies.
â€It’s my dream to revive ANAS,†the governor said.
She said that ANAS, which produced many agricultural graduates, was closed down in San Remigio and transferred to Hamtic town during the time of her father, who was then the governor, because of a political feud.
She said she wants to revive the school because Antique is an agricultural province and to encourage the youth to study agriculture or farming. (PNA)
