The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will soon implement the Cash for Training Program (CTP) for youth as beneficiaries.
Social Welfare Officer III Eduardo Guevarra, DSWD Regional Office 6 focal person for youth, said the new program is an intensive training to provide the youth, who have not availed the Expanded Government Internship Program (EGIP), the opportunity to get scholarship for their choice technical-vocational course offered by TESDA.
Guevarra said under the program, which they are waiting the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) to start, entitles each youth a P20,000 worth of scholarship package that include enrollment fee, transportation allowance and toolkit.
He said qualified for the scholarship are those 18 to 30 years old and out-of-school or a graduate of a technical-vocational course but still unemployed. Preference will be given to those who previously applied for EGIP but was not included in the 17 percent cut off in the region. - by PNA
