Tacurong City hikes allowance for city volunteer health workers
TACURONG CITY, March 3 (PNA) -- The city council of Tacurong on Thursday passed an ordinance increasing the city's health workers allowance, officials announced Friday.
Retroactive January this year, community health volunteer workers in Tacurong City will be receiving a PHP1,200 monthly subsistence allowance as mandated by City Ordinance 04-2017.
The ordinance was enacted by the 7th Sangguniang Panlungsod.
Before the ordinance was passed, volunteers only receive PHP1,000 a month.
The executive and legislative arms of the local government unit hoped that the increase will motivate the volunteers to become more effective frontline health service providers.
“Barangay health workers serve as the first line of help of the people, especially for those living in far-flung areas,†Vice Mayor Joseph George Lechonsito, city council presiding officer.
“It is just proper that we also address their needs,†he added.
Lechonsito and Councilor Ariel Ferdinand dela Cruz authored the Ordinance. Co-authors were Councilors Psyche Sucaldito, Welson Ferrer, Hernane Fermo, Cirilo Flores, Carlos Borromeo Segura Jr., and David Salazar.
The same city lawmakers councilors proposed city ordinance 05-2017 that granted PHP1,000 subsistence allowance to qualified barangay nutrition scholars. (PNA)
