At least two suspected communist-New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were reportedly killed and undetermined number of other rebels were believed wounded when a gunbattle erupted between government forces and communist terrorists in Barangay Banglasan, Montevista town, Compostela Valley (ComVal) province.
Maj. Armand F. Rico, spokesman of Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMincom) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), also said combat maneuvering troops of the 3rd Special Forces Battallion were conducting security to villages in Montevista on Saturday when engaged alleged regular members of guerilla-Front Committee 3 of the CPP-NPA Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC).
“Our ground troops also secured the villagers from the force revolutionary taxation imposed by the communists when engaged in Banglasan area,†claimed Maj. Rico. - PNA
