Around 1,000 evacuees who were displaced by typhoons and massive flooding in this municipality last year benefited from the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) outreach project that was held in cooperation with municipal health unit and volunteer rescue team from Metro Manila.
The displaced residents are currently residing in tent cities 1 and 2, and E-Cubes 1 and 2, all temporary resettlements in this municipality.
SBMA Administrator Armand Arreza led officials, physicians and medical staff of Subic and Cubi Dispensary, Public Health and Safety Department headed by Dr. Solomon Jacalne, community relations officers of Public Relations Department headed by Armina C. Llamas and volunteers from Board of Investment (BOI) media pool, during the medical mission and gift-giving for affected families of typhoon “Ondoy.â€
Most of those treated during the medical mission were children afflicted with “sore eyes,†cough and colds, and for the elders, high blood pressure and rheumatism.
Medicines, vitamins and gift packages were also distributed to beneficiaries.
Municipal Mayor Nerma Yap lauded the efforts of SBMA officers and employees for their initiative to conduct a medical mission for her constituents. - pna
