Strong winds, big waves damage 250 houses, 99 pump boats in northern Negros
BACOLOD CITY, Dec. 19 (PNA) -- A total of 250 houses were damaged by strong winds and big waves that hit the coastal communities in four local government units in northern Negros Occidental since the weekend.
A report of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) released Monday showed affected areas were those in the cities of Cadiz and Victorias, and towns of Manapla and E.B. Magalona.
Thirty-two houses were totally damaged, including 12 in Cadiz and 10 each in Manapla and Victorias.
Of the 218 partially damaged houses, 110 were reported in Cadiz; 49 in Manapla; and 59 in Victorias.
In Cadiz, a total of 122 families in 11 barangays were affected while in Manapla, 59 families in five villages. In Victorias, 69 families were affected in one barangay.
Still in Cadiz, 42 pump boats were totally damaged and 57 others were partially damaged. Also, 18 “tangkop†fishing gears were damaged along with four “kamalig†or nipa huts.
The local government of E.B. Magalona has yet to submit a final report as of press time.(PNA)
