Recall Petition Against Pampanga Gov. Eddie Panlilio
« on: October 17, 2008, 07:56:13 PM »
The Kapanlig at Kambilan ning Memalen Pampanga (Kambilan) on Wednesday filed the recall petition against Gov. Eddie Panlilio before the provincial Commission on Election here.

Thousands of Kapampangans along with Vice-Gov Joseller “Yeng” Guiao and Sangguniang Panlalawigan members and some mayors marched at the provincial Comelec office and submitted the 224,874 signatures they gathered to subject Panlilio to a recall election.

As early 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, supporters of the recall petition coming from different towns in the province assembled at the Arnedo Park in front of the provincial capitol before filing of the recall petition.

At least three hours protest rally was conducted at the said park and was attended by Mayors Jerry Pelayo of Candaba, Ricardo Rivera of Guagua, Eduardo Guerrero of Floridablanca, Lyndon Cunanan of Magalang, Nardo Velasco of Sasmuan, Teddy Tumang of Mexico, Edgar Flores of Minalin, Rodrigo Canlas of San Simon, Peter Flores of Masantol, Romel Concepcion of Sta. Ana, Chito Espino of Arayat and Jun Tetangco of Apalit.

Lolita Hizon owner of the Pampanga’s Best food products and Renato Romero of Advocacy for the Development of Central Luzon (ADCL) also attended the pro-recall rally.

In her short speech, Hizon told recall move supporters that she was sorry that she had misled people and her followers to vote for Panlilio.

“Now I am correcting that mistake and will not rest until Panlilio is removed from office,” Hizon said.

The rallyists marched to the provincial Comelec office where Kambilan president Rosve Henzon led the formal filing of the recall petition before election officer, Atty Temie Lambino.

Henzon presented the 224,875 signatures contained in 168 colo-coded boxes.

In his 10-page complaint, Henzon said Panlilio is being subjected to recall primarily for loss of confidence occasioned by his gross violation of the pertinent provisions of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, the Civil Service Law (RA 6713) and grave misconduct in office.” - PNA
