A reshuffling of police chiefs in Negros Oriental is in the making following the conduct of a performance evaluation of the different police stations in the province.
Provincial police director P/Sr. Supt. Augusto Marquez, Jr. disclosed that a committee has been created to make the necessary recommendations for the reshuffling or appointment of police chiefs in the different towns and cities in Negros Oriental.
Although there is no timeline for this, Marquez said the first to relieved from his current position is Sr. Insp. Domeneciano Distrito, Jr. of the Zamboanguita police station.
Marquez said the town mayor, Kit Mark Adanza, had requested him to replace Distrito, who has held the post for almost the prescribed tour of duty of two years.
Distrito will be assigned to the provincial police office while Sr. Insp. Teddy Picardal will replace him.
According to P/Sr. Supt. Marquez, there are several reasons for the relief or reshuffling of police chiefs, to include completion of tour of duty, low performance rating of his police station, scheduled retirement, and command responsibility in cases where his subordinates are found to be of poor performance.
He also shunned public speculation that police chiefs are “under the mercy†of local chief executives in that they can be replaced anytime. - PNA
