The military vowed to continue its operation in the barangays of Sibulan and Baracatan, Toril,
Davao City in order to clear the area from the presence of the New People's Army rebels.
Lt. Colonel Cesar De Mesa, commanding officer of the 69th Infantry Battalion, said the ongoing operation is part of the effort to run after the rebels who ambushed and killed four soldiers in Barangay Baracatan last May 22.
He said the
military will no longer leave these areas until the front committee 54 of the NPA is gone.
He said the operations will continue even if they lost one soldier and wounded five others in the latest encounter at Sitio Mamaon, Barangay Baracatan last Saturday.
De Mesa identified the latest fatality as Private First Class Melenio Dalisay while the five wounded soldiers were Corporal Emmanuel Dutsa, Privates First Class Noy Achay, Henrich Emar, Robbie Balbuena and Sherwin Diaz. - PNA
