More than 28,000 drug users, pushers in NIR surrender through Oplan Tokhang
BACOLOD CITY, Jan. 3 (PNA) -- The war on drugs of the Duterte administration led to the surrender of 28,277 drug users and pushers in Negros Island Region (NIR) since July 1 last year.
The latest figures released by the Police Regional Office (PRO)-18 showed that under Oplan Tokhang, 26,275 drug users and 2,002 drug pushers in both Negros provinces yielded to authorities towards the end of December.
Of the total number, 13,248 drug personalities surrendered to Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NORPPO); 11,378 yielded to Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO); and 3,651 turned themselves in to Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
The NORPPO registered 12,320 users and 928 pushers; NOCPPO, 10,578 users and 800 pushers; and BCPO, 3,377 users and 274 pushers.
A total of 25,565 newly-identified drug personalities were recorded, including 24,269 users and 1,296 pushers.
Since June 30, anti-drug operatives of PRO-18 have visited 16,929 houses of identified drug personalities.
Personnel of NORPPO visited 6,708 houses; NOCPPO, 8,130; and BCPO, 2,091.
Records further showed that 19 drug personalities were killed, mostly in police operations, since the implementation of Oplan Tokhang and Oplan Doble Barrel on July 1.
One user and two pushers killed were listed while two users and 14 pushers killed were not listed.
A total of 883 drug personalities were arrested. Of the 883 arrested, 344 were users and 539 were pushers. There were 37 who were listed, and 603 not listed.(PNA)
