Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala on Thursday said the attendance of thousands of farmers from all over the country to the ongoing
Makina-Saka agricultural modernization show at the World Trade Center is just a proof that the trust of the people in the government is coming back.
As you see how these people who came from all over the country have warmly welcomed our project and this is just an evidence that the trust of the people in the government is coming back), Secretary Alcala said in an ambush interview at the said event.
Alcala said, “Utang na loob natin ang tagumpay ng event na ito sa ating magsasaka na talaga namang nakikipagtulungan sa atin.†(We owe the success of this event from the
farmers themselves who are truly helping us.")
He explained that the equipment being exhibited in the agricultural machinery show which are expensive can be affordable to the
farmers as the Department is gradually coordinating with the dealers to make their products cheaper as this is one of the aims of the Memorandum of Agreement with Science and Technology Secretary Mario Montejo about the website named Matuwid na D.A.A.N (Department of Agriculture Accountability Network) signed today.
â€We start with the spare parts so that our inventors will have cheaper products and
our farmers can avail of cheaper machineries,†the agriculture chief said.
The Matuwid na D.A.A.N. (MnD), a pioneering website on transparency in governance, features a comprehensive, regularly updated and readily accessible body of information on all of DA’s ongoing projects, their specific locations, actual photos, budget allocations or awarded costs, among others, including a feedback mechanism for the public.
â€As we all know, Matuwid na D.A.A.N. (MnD) practically symbolizes the President’s vision of a good government. It was the buzzword that brought him to victory in the 2010 elections,†Alcala said.
â€From there, MnD has soon become a government policy and a brand of governance. Given this, we are working to make the government more transparent in its actions and the officials more aware of their accountability and the trust that comes with their respective offices,†he continued.
He likewise said that they are glad that DA is the forefront in having a keen relationship between the government and the public. - PNA
