Another P420 Thousand Worth of Illegal Lumbers Confiscated
Camp Carlos Delgado, Catarman, Northern Samar- As part of its intensified campaign against illegal logging in Northern Samar, police authorities in the province under the leadership of PCOL ARNEL J APUD, Provincial Director have confiscated more undocumented lumbers in another successful operation on Monday (March 15, 2021) in Allen town's Balwharteco port.
Based on the report, a 10-wheeler wing-van transporting illegally sawn lumbers from Bobon town to Legazpi City in Albay was intercepted by operatives from Allen Municipal Police Station, 2nd Platoon of First Provincial Mobile Force Company, Northern Samar Provincial Special Operations Group and the Provincial Intelligence Unit.
The truck driver, Anthony C Davales, 35, married and a resident of Brgy. Sabang Zone 1, Allen and his helper, Jay Marion V Quias, 26, a resident of Brgy. Obayan, Pinabacdao, Samar failed to show the necessary documents to the authorities.
Confiscated from their possession and control were 298 pieces of assorted Lawaan lumbers in different sizes with an estimated market value of P420 thousand.
The apprehended violators were taken into custody by Allen MPS. A case for violation of PD No. 705 is now being prepared for filing in court against the said violators while the confiscated lumbers are yet to be turned over to the proper authorities.
Meanwhile, PD APUD pointed that similar operations will be intensified in the province.
"We will step up our campaign against illegal logging as we continue our operations based on the mandates of the Presidential Decree 705. I also urge the public to help the authorities in our efforts in preserving our environment and natural resources," PCOL APUD said.
