Livestock breeding and production center now ready to serve Antique farmers

SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique, Dec. 14 (PNA) -- Farmers in Antique province can now avail of the upgraded breeds of farm animals at the newly inaugurated Provincial Livestock Breeding and Production Center (PLBPC) in Barangay Tubudan, San Remigio, Antique.

Porferio P. Gallego, Jr. , Supervising Agriculturist of the Antique Provincial Veterinary (ProVet) Office, today said that the center that was inaugurated last week is now ready to assist farmers in raising livestock for additional income as well as for other farm-related activities.

The PLBPC was established in 2013 but there were necessary preparations to be done prior its full-blown implementation. These included that forage and pasture development and installation of perimeter fence for the 20-hectare property. A multi-purpose structure that would serve as staff house and other functions was also constructed.

Currently, there is still also an ongoing construction of the housing units for the farm animals.

The area where the PLBPC is located is owned by the University of Antique (UA) but has a memorandum of agreement for a joint venture with the ProVet that belongs to the Antique provincial government.

Gallego said that PLBPC has now a total of 18 Bulgarian Murrah buffalo/carabao breed, 15 American Brahman cattle, and 27 Anglo Nubian Cross goats. These farm animals can be availed by the farmers in order to improve the genetic population of their own animals.

Farmers need to have at least 2,500 square meter forage and pasture land to ensure the sustainability of the animals dispersed to them.(PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
