Livelihood Assistance in Lanao del Norte
« on: July 24, 2009, 02:50:51 PM »
At least 3,000 residents already benefited from President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s employment and livelihood assistance in cooperation with the provincial government program of Lanao del Norte, said provincial information officer Lyndon G. Calica.

Most of the beneficiaries are out-of-school youths (OSY), farmers and displaced overseas workers, he said.

Non-government organizations (NGOs), national government agencies (NGAs), Golden Arrow Vision of Life Foundation, Inc. (GAVOLFI), Lanao Aquamarine Fisheries Center for Community Development (LAFCCOD), Ecosystems Works for Essential Benefits (ECOWEB), Maranding Women Investors Multi-purpose Cooperative (MWIMPC), AIM Coop, Lorenzo Tan Multi-purpose Cooperative (LTMPC), and Alternative Center for Health Development (ACHDE) are in the forefront extending their services and benefits to the residents of this province, said Calica.

Services and benefits availed of by the people are scholarship programs for the OSY, health services and Chinese traditional medicine; sustainable agriculture techniques; therapeutic massage; membership for savings and credit services; acupressure and acupuncture; and feeding program.

Beneficiaries and residents of Lanao del Norte expressed their gratitude to Gov. Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo for leading in the employment generation and livelihood program in the province.

President Arroyo’s Comprehensive Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP) also helped the residents in the province.

Meanwhile, to provide more emergency employment, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), in coordination with the provincial government through the Provincial Cooperative Office, facilitated a training for 20 cooperative members on skills enhancement on rattan basket weaving cum production last week, July 15-17 at the Macapagal Training Center here.

The trainees presented their quality output for export during the training.

Part of the training was the rattan basket making called tip towel that is made of "nito", a local material found in riversides. A market in Cebu City is awaiting for 300 pieces finished products by August 15, 2009 which will be shipped to the United States.

The training, under the Sub-contracting Partnership Innovation (SPIN) project, is a component of the CLEEP program of DTI. SPIN project is also aimed at making local products globally competitive and introduces the said products to foreign markets “by forging a supply contract with an established exporter.”

Gov. Dimaporo is pleased to have the most affected sectors of the economic recession be given this opportunity for alternative livelihood and income generation program. The governor is also happy with the project which supports two of his three-point-agenda.

Cooperatives which were represented during the training were Lanao del Norte Comrades Multi-purpose, Lanipao Women’s Association, Golden Arrow Women’s Association of El Savador, Association of Abaga Women’s Advocates, Golden Arrow Women’s Association of San Manuel and Cabasagan Women’s Association. John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
