AT least three mountain barangays in Cebu City are at risk of landslides following two days of heavy rains last week.
In sitio Oprra, barangay Kalunasan, a three-meter limestone portion of the road going to Camp Marina collapsed at 7 p.m. last Friday, causing massive traffic along the area.
Some residents tried to remove the limestone to no avail.
Kalunasan barangay captain Nunilon Monares said he already called the city's Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW) to send heavy equipment to remove the debris.
He said families living in 600 houses along the area are now worried about a potential landslide.
If it continues to rain, Monares said he will have to evacuate the residents.
Gerry Carillo, Cebu City Disaster Coordinating Council (CCDC) consultant, said they will send a team to inspect and remove the limestone.
In barangay Pulangbato, landslides were also recorded yesterday morning and last Friday night.
