« on: October 17, 2008, 06:08:40 PM »
Parties involved in the construction of 500 houses at the Iloilo City relocation site in Barangay San Isidro, Jaro district on Tuesday signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) indicating the start of the project anytime soon.

This was disclosed by Mayor Jerry P. Treñas who signed the agreement in behalf of the city. Other parties were from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Habitat for Humanity.

The project cost is P35 million and it will be provided by the DSWD while the Habitat for Humanity will undertake the construction.

The city government has provided the site for the project.

“The 500 houses will be constructed for our constituents affected during the last typhoon,” the mayor said.

Treñas said probably, the ground breaking ceremony will be held within the next two weeks with Vice President Noli de Castro as possible guest.

The Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) under De Castro was responsible for fast tracking the release of funds for the initial 500 houses. - PNA
