Governor Catamco captivated by scenic Alamada’s Asik-Asik falls
ALAMADA, North Cotabato (Sept 20 2005) Governor Nancy Catamco on Saturday step foot at the stunning Alamada's “Asik Asik falls†and was captivated by the beautiful mountain cliff covered wholly in green and on its walls the water sprinkling off and falls down.
After trekking several hundred steps down the cliff, she meet the green curtain of water flowing from the top rocks and gently fall right through the shallow rocky pool en route to Alamada river.
"It is beautiful," the Governor said, her eyes glowing in satisfaction despite walking down for almost a thousand steps.â€
“I have conquered Asik Asik in an exciting adventure with the cold morning wind breezing through our faces,†she said, adding that the effort was rewarding and satisfying.
Accompanied by 1st District Legislative Representative Joselito "Joel" Sacdalan and officials, the governor saw for herself the 60-meter high, 140-meter wide waterfalls.
The Governor slept over at Alamada so she did hit the road as early as 6 am. She runs with magnificent morning sun as it rises generously giving it's shining light all over the blue mountains also known as Mt Piapayungan.
The suns soft heat mixes with the cold winds and helps open ones readiness to take the adventure as the Governors entourage assembles at tourism hall.
The host Alamada LGU, served a choice of hot coffee and biko (caramelized sticky rice), boiled legumes, boiled banana and delicious chicken aroz caldo.
Before the Governor head through the site, she paid full respect to the planet Earth and led a quick tree planting program, a tradition she normally does when reunited face-to- face with the beauty of Mother Earth.
Alamada Mayor Sacdalan, Congresman Sacdalan, Barangay Dado Chairman Antonio Camino , Vice Mayor Leonigildo Calabara Jr, Provincial Tourism Officer Josephine Abellana and other local officials joined the Governor inspiring everyone to make it a goal for Alamada. As Mayor Sadalan said, "our contribution to the efforts of preserving our water source."
