The Office of Civil Defense in a bulletin issued as of 2 p.m. Wednesday, said flash floods and landslides brought about by incessant rains since January 2, have now taken toll on an estimated 2,745 families or 12,205 individuals in 49 barangays in the provinces of Compostela Valley, Davao Oriental, Davao del Norte and Davao del Sur.
Liza Mazo, OCD regional director, also identified three fatalities namely Apolinaria Porras, 56 of Barangay Mt. Diwata, Monkayo, Compostela Valley; Jonas Caan, 25 of Barangay Pongpong, Sta. Maria, Davao del Sur; and Eserio Daniel, 47 of Barangay Bobongon, Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte.
Mazo said Porras was buried in a landslide while Daniel drowned in flood waters.
However, the report did not reveal the cause of Caan's death.
Mazo also disclosed that the three children earlier reported as missing in Mt. Diwata were all accounted for.
She said 15 barangays in the municipalities of Monkayo, Montevista, Compostela, Maragusan, New Bataan, and Nabunturan in Compostela Valley, three barangays in Boston and Manay, Davao Oriental, 28 barangays from Tagum City, Asuncion and Kapalong, Davao del Norte and three barangays of Santa Maria, Davao del Sur were affected either by flash floods or landslides. - pna
