Iloilo - The Department of Agriculture (DA) here said the
Farmer’s Contact Center (FCC) will be fully operational by January 2011.
DA regional technical director Remelyn Recoter said the FCC will be able to address various queries of farmers, cooperative and guest with regards to all agricultural matters by the time it operates some time in January.
Recoter said they are currently compiling and completing existing data on various agriculture programs. These include information, records as well as available materials on rice, corn and other crops, fertilizers, irrigation, loans, livestock and new technologies.
She admitted they are having a hard time cataloguing and sorting the data, especially on the frequently asked questions about the DA’s major agriculture thrust.
The department is also collecting data from its technical experts, commodity resource persons and farmer-scientist who are based in the region.
She hoped the data needed for FCC, which also acts like a data-bank of all agriculture programs and projects, will be more than enough by the time it opens.
Juvy Gaton, chief information officer of DA, said the FCC will serve as a one-stop-shop information center in all agricultural projects and programs in the region.
It will be opened to all agriculture-related inquiries and will try to address all the concerns of the farmers in the region. - pna
