Troops neutralize local terrorist amid encounter in LDS

Press Release:
One local terrorist was neutralized in an encounter between the troops of the 82nd Infantry Battalion and the local terrorist group in the boundaries of the municipalities of Balindong and Piagapo in Lanao del Sur at 4:30pm on Friday, January 24, 2020.

"The neutralized terrorist was identified as Jarir S. Usman, 28, and a resident of Barangay Raya Saduc, Marawi City," said Lt. Col. Rafman Altre, 82nd Infantry Battalion commander.

During the clearing operation, troops recovered an identification card, one M16 rifle with magazine, four improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two kilograms of explosive components, a cellphone, a container of rice, personal belongings, and subversive documents with high intelligence value.

“We remain relentless in our military operations and we won’t allow another siege to happen in our area of operation," said Col. Jose Maria Cuerpo II, 103rd Infantry Brigade commander.

The 15-minute firefight resulted in more casualties as evident on the traces of bloodstains in their withdrawal route while no casualty was recorded on the government side.

“I urge everyone to continue your efforts in pursuing lasting peace not just for Mindanao but for the whole country. Let us conquer the challenges ahead of us and step up the momentum in sustaining our gains for our common aspiration," said Brig. Gen. Generoso Ponio, commander of the Joint Task Force ZamPeLan.

Pursuit operation is currently being conducted for the possible neutralization of the fleeing militants.

"Western Mindanao Command, through all of our joint task forces, continuously conduct focused and civil military operations to end terrorism and violent extremism in Western and Central Mindanao," said Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of the Western Mindanao Command.

"With the support of our partners and stakeholders we are confident that we will be able to successfully execute our mandate for the people of Mindanao," Lt. Gen. Sobejana added.

The recovered cadaver was immediately turned over to the local officials of Barangay Gacap, Piagapo, Lanao del Sur for proper disposition.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
