The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) cluster on good governance and anti-corruption sub-cluster in digitization, in collaboration with four agencies in government¸ started Monday an electronic compilation of basic information on farmers, farm laborers and fishermen in Negros Oriental.

Dubbed as the registry system of the basic sectors of agriculture, which is conducted nationwide, it is aimed at acquiring a data base needed by the country’s economic development planners, policymakers and project implementors, says National Statistics Office (NSO) statistical coordination officer II Yathalida Generoso.

In Negros Oriental, a total of 901 field interviewers are dispatched in all the 557 barangays to conduct a house-to-house visit and listing of households, interview the farmers, farm laborers and fishermen and recording them in the prescribed registration form.

The data gathered will be inputted in an electronic compiling system, Generoso disclosed.

Specifically, field interviewers are mandated to gather the demographic and socio-economic profile of farmers, farm laborers, and fishermen, gather information on whether the farming and or fishing activity is for household consumption or for sale, among others.

The local NSO officer said barangay secretaries are identified as focal persons and serve as the immediate supervisors of the interviewers who were trained about their mandate.

Interviewers are paid on a daily basis with a standard output every day while the barangay secretaries are given honorariums.

Generoso said the target date of completion is on November 7, 2012, urging farmers and fishermen alike to cooperate for a successful undertaking.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
