Residents in Sibulan, Negros Oriental raised their proptest during a public hearing recently over the establishment of yet another drive-in motel in a municipality, which is espousing the “character town†image.
The application of one Alex Kang for the construction of drive-in motel in barangay Maslog, Sibulan town in Negros Oriental hit a snag when residents of Purok 1 objected to the plan.
The constituents believe construction of more drive-in motels in the barangay runs counter with the municipality’s image as a character town.
Already, three drive-in motels are operating in the same barangay.
The public hearing was conducted following the advice of the town mayor and the municipal planning and development officer for the reclassification of the area.
Councilor Enrique Jariol says the villagers have spoken during a public hearing and that the opposition should not be taken lightly. - PNA
