PIA NORTH COTABATO: All residents of Sitio Kapatagan, Luayon, Makilala who have been isolated since the October 29 earthquake have been brought to safety.
This after 15 remaining villagers were airlifted by rescue choppers of the Philippine Airforce before noon today (Nov. 3) Acting vice governor Shirlyn Macasarte-Villanueva led the rescue operation for the provincial government.
Initially, 21 residents were targeted for extraction by air; however, 7 residents opted to walk despite the danger of taking the road littered with landslides to bring with them their livestock and motorcycles.

Thanks also to the 14-member Philippine Army troop that walked for hours to reach the area for assessment of the community and identification and clearing of landing zone. Thanks too to the men of Bureau of Fire Protection from Region 8 and Region 7.
